WISDOM FOR REPENTANCE PART 5
The difference between the five foolish virgins and five wise virgins is their works and fruits. The works are sinful that is what we have talked about in part 1, 2, 3 and part 4. Now let's talk about the fruits. Gal. 5 verse 22
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is 1. love, 2. joy, 3. peace, 4. longsuffering, 5. gentleness, 6. goodness, 7. faith,
[23] 8. Meekness, 9. temperance: against such there is no law.
Let me break it down for more understanding
Now, The Fruit of the Spirit are according to Gal. 5 verse 22 and 23
1. Love
Love, in this context, refers to agape unconditional, selfless love that seeks the best for others. It is the foundation of Christian character, reflecting God's love for humanity. True love is patient, kind, and forgiving (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). It compels believers to care for others, even when they receive nothing in return.
2. Joy
Joy is a deep, inner gladness that is not dependent on circumstances. Unlike temporary happiness, which comes from external situations, joy is rooted in God's presence (Psalm 16:11). It is the confidence that God is in control, even during trials (James 1:2-3).
3. Peace
Peace is an inner calmness and assurance that comes from trusting God. Jesus promised His followers peace that surpasses human understanding (John 14:27; Philippians 4:7). This peace allows believers to remain steady in times of trouble and to live in harmony with others.
4. Longsuffering (Patience)
Longsuffering means enduring difficulties and offenses without retaliation. It is the ability to remain steadfast through trials and to bear with the weaknesses of others. God Himself is longsuffering toward humanity (2 Peter 3:9), giving time for repentance.
5. Gentleness (Kindness)
Gentleness is a tender and compassionate attitude toward others. It is not weakness, but strength under control. Jesus demonstrated gentleness in His dealings with sinners (Matthew 11:29). It reflects God's kindness toward us (Ephesians 4:32).
6. Goodness
Goodness is moral integrity and uprightness. It means doing what is right, even when it is difficult. A good person is generous, honest, and seeks justice for others. Goodness is an active virtue, demonstrated through righteous actions (Romans 12:21).
7. Faith (Faithfulness)
Faithfulness is unwavering loyalty and trustworthiness. It means being reliable in our commitments to God and people. A faithful person remains steadfast in their beliefs and responsibilities, reflecting God's own faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23).
8. Meekness (Humility)
Meekness is strength under control. It is not weakness but a spirit of humility and submission to God's will. A meek person does not seek revenge but entrusts themselves to God (Matthew 5:5). Jesus Himself was meek and humble (Philippians 2:5-8).
9. Temperance (Self Control)
Temperance is the ability to master one's desires, emotions, and impulses. It means exercising discipline over thoughts, words, and actions. Self control helps believers resist temptation and live a life pleasing to God (1 Corinthians 9:25-27).
