WISDOM FOR REPENTANCE PART 3
4. ( LASCIVIOUSNESS ) Giving in to Uncontrolled Lust and Shameful Desires
Lust is a strong craving for something forbidden, especially sexual desires that go against God's will. When people allow their desires to control them, they become enslaved to sin. Whether through pornography, immoral fantasies, or inappropriate relationships, unchecked lust leads to spiritual destruction. (James 1:14-15 KJV. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. [15] Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. And Matthew 5:28 KJV. But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.)
5. (IDOLATRY) Worshiping Things or People Instead of God
Idolatry is not just bowing to carved images; it includes anything that takes God’s place in our hearts money, fame, careers, relationships, or even self worship. When people prioritize material possessions or human approval over God, they drift into spiritual emptiness. (Exodus 20:3-5 KJV
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: [5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And Matthew 6:24 KJV. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.)
6. (WITCHCRAFT) Practicing Sorcery and Demonic Powers
God forbids witchcraft, sorcery, and any involvement in occult practices. These activities open doors to demonic influence, leading people away from the truth. Seeking guidance from spirits, horoscopes, or traditional rituals instead of God brings spiritual bondage. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12 KJV. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, [11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. [12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.)
7. ( HATRED) Holding on to Hatred and Bitterness
Bitterness is like poison; it slowly destroys a person from within. Holding grudges and refusing to forgive can harden the heart and hinder one’s prayers. Hatred contradicts God’s command to love one another and invites strife and division. (Ephesians 4:31-32 KJV. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: [32] And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. 1 John 3:15)
